2014 Sheboygan A’s Schedule Released

Posted: January 28, 2014

The Sheboygan A’s announced a 2014 schedule that calls for 58 games, and it could turn into 70 games if the club goes all the way in league playoffs as it did in 2013.

Last year’s club finished 37-25, getting to the final game of both the Langsdorf League and Northeastern Wisconsin League playoffs only to lose the championship in both leagues by one run.

The A’s open with a Northeastern Wisconsin (NEW) League game at Manitowoc on Wednesday, May 28.

That game is followed by the home opener on Friday night, May 30, when they host the Manasha MACs. Those two clubs met in the NEW championship series last season with Menasha winning the deciding game, 4-3, scoring the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Adding to the festivities of the May 30 home opener is the pre-game Project G.R.I.L.L. unveiling and awards program.

On Saturday of opening weekend, May 31, the A’s will host the West Allis Nationals in a Langsdorf League doubleheader starting at 5 p.m. The club will dedicate the new scoreboard between games. The next day the A’s play the Chicago Clout in an exhibition game and on that day the new Donor Wall will be dedicated to the memory of Chuck Zeichert and Joe Udovich, whose families funded the project which recognizes donors to Wildwood Rally as well as those fans who participated in the A’s bonding program.

One of the highlights of the season will be the Wisconsin State League’s round-robin tournament weekend on July 11-13 when all six state league teams will be in town competing against each other.

The Langsdorf League playoffs start July 31 and the NEW playoffs begin on Aug 10. The A’s must finish fifth or better in the Langsdorf and fourth or better in the NEW to qualify for the playoffs.

The club’s marketing committee is lining up special events for all the home games. Firmed up so far are Saturday, June 28, when Don Diener will be inducted into the A’s Hall of Fame between games of the Addison doubleheader, and Friday, July 18 when it will be Bud Light Night for the Manitowoc game.
