Sheboygan A's Baseball

Wisconsin Singers Here February 23

Posted: February 2, 2015

Baseball is the thing at Wildwood Park where the A’s are competitive in a couple of the best leagues in the Midwest. The baseball is high quality, but fans know that the quality of the entertainment, the concessions, the kids’ games, the prizes, the gimmicks, the promotions, and the other fans who are soon to be friends make it more than just a game.

Same story with the Sheboygan Athletic Club. It is more than just the organization that makes baseball happen in Sheboygan. Most know the club is responsible for putting the A’s on the field every year for the past half-century. Some know that the club has poured over $1 million and uncountable man hours into improvements and maintenance at the city’s ballpark. A few know that over the past half century, the club has generously given huge amounts of funding and time to youth baseball from “Rec” and organized “travel” youth, to high school, Legion and on to collegiate levels. It seems though that only the club’s 300-plus Sponsors (because they receive the annual report of its activities) and those directly involved know of the donations to non-profit groups, the beneficial programs for youth, and quality events they bring in and put on for the benefit of the people of the Sheboygan area. The Athletic Club, a good community citizen, is much more than just a game.

The Wisconsin Singers is an example of the latter. The Club has played a key role in bringing in the group for the past 17 years. It has nothing to do with baseball, except that like the Sheboygan A’s, it is geared to provide opportunity for talented young people.

The Wisconsin Singers are comprised of the best of University Wisconsin Madison singer/dancers and musicians. The show has not disappointed for the past 17 years. It is exciting and energetic and you, like the performers, will be left breathless after some of numbers. They will be performing at the Sheboygan Falls High School Auditorium on Monday night, Feb. 23.

The show gets under way at 7 p.m. Kicking it off, after an afternoon of song and choreography workshops with the Singers and their directors and coaches, will be the North High School Northern Lights, the South High Singers and the Sheboygan Falls Jazz Show Choir who will each perform two numbers.

Tickets sell for $20 to adults and $5 to students. All proceeds from the show go to music scholarships. The Sheboygan Athletic Club is proud of the role it plays in this show and urges you to support these high school groups and the athletic and talented Wisconsin Singers.

In Sheboygan, tickets are available at North and South High Schools, Festival Foods, Tietz’s Piggly Wiggly and Trilling True Value Hardware; in Sheboygan Falls at the high school, Blattner’s Piggly Wiggly and Ace Hardware.

The Sheboygan A's are members of the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. The A's have helped develop more than 43 players that have reached professional baseball, including 2002 World Series Champion Jarrod Washburn (Anaheim Angels). All Sheboygan A's home games are played at Wildwood Baseball Park in Sheboygan. Connect with the A's on FacebookTwitterInstagram and YouTube.
