Three More Return From 2014 Roster

Posted: April 15, 2015

As the A’s prepare for the 2015 season, the team welcomes back a pair of Sabres to the roster in Cole Miklavcic and A.J. Alessi. Also returning in 2015 is pitcher Rob Hagedorn.

David “Cole” Miklavcic, and outfielder whose hustle and all-out play quickly turned him into a fan favorite, is back for his second season with the A’s. Miklavcic, a resident of Florida, plays at Marian University. He hit .333 in 43 games with the A’s last season. He is currently at .367 at Marian.

Joining Miklavcic is Sabres teammate A.J. Alessi. Alessi, who struggled in the early portion of the 2014 season for the A’s, came along at the end of the season to post a 2-2 record, with a 6.68 ERA.

Hagedorn, like Miklavcic and Alessi, returns from the 2014 Langsdorf Leauge championship team for his second season. Hagedorn, who pitches at Cardinal Stritch University, was 4-1 with a 4.45 ERA with the A’s last season.

Several newcomers have also been signed.

Carter Amundsen, a Sheboygan South grad, currently playing at Augustana College, will join the club full time this year after coming up from the Legion team at the end of last season. Amundsen, an all-conference high school and Legion player, hit .410 last year for South. He appeared in one game for the A’s, going 1-2 at the plate.

Other first year players are catchers Taylor Grimm and Hayden Fenner.

Currently playing at Lewis College, Grimm was an all-conference catcher while at Cedarburg High School, where he hit .352 in his senior season. Fenner is from Ripon and is playing at UW- Whitewater. He was set to join the A’s in 2014, but a late-spring automobile accident ended those hopes. He was an all-conference and all-state high school player.

You can catch your first glimpse of the 2015 A’s on Friday, May 29 when the A’s take on the West Allis Nationals in the Project G.R.I.L.L. home opener. The game will be preceded by the unveiling of the grills and the awards presentations. Season tickets range from $40 for general admission to $100 for Bud Backstop field level seats.
