A’s Cant Hold On to Lead, Fall 8-5

Posted: July 3, 2015

APPLETON – Dylan Detert led off the game with a home run and TJ McCoy
hit a 2-run home run in his 2015 debut with the A’s to spark a 3-run third inning and push the A’s to a 5-0 lead over
the Appleton Legends.

Painfully for A’s
fans, Appleton put seven hits together in the fourth inning, six of them of the
“chinker” variety, to take a 6-5 led in the Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball
League game played here Thursday nigh.

A hit is a hit is
a hit and Appleton went on to an 8-5 victory.

The A’s squandered
13 hits, six walks and two hit batsmen, leaving a total of 15 runners on base,
nine of them in scoring position.

McCoy had three
hits to lead the A’s and Blake Fleischman, Taylor Grimm and Nate Heili all had
two. Brandon Winfield suffered the loss.

At the start of
this week the A’s were unbeaten and in first place in the NEW. Now they have joined Appleton and Oshkosh with
three loses behind Menasha’s two. The A’s next outing is now one of huge
magnitude as Menasha is in town.
