Posted: April 11, 2016

Fan favorites Harry Steldt (UW-Stevens Point Alum) and Brandon Winfield (Marian University Alum), returning
for their fifth and fourth seasons respectively, are among six players to sign contracts for the 2016 Sheboygan A’s season.

Others
returning to the club are pitchers AJ Alessi (Marian University), Weston Nelson (UW-Stevens Point) and outfielder
Adam Ryan (Marian University). Joining the club for this
first year is Hunter Berry (Marian University).

Steldt
has a .313 career batting average. The UW-Stevens Point grad is a corner
infielder who is likely to see most of his action at first base this season. He hit .318 last year in 44 games, recording eight
doubles, a home run and 24 runs batted in.

Winfield
led the club with seven wins last season and posted a 2.69 earned run average
in 73 innings. For his career, Winfield
is 14-14 with a career record 14 saves and a 2.88 earned run average in 222
innings.

Both
Steldt and Winfield were all-Wisconsin State League second team selections last year.

Nelson,
a local product from Sheboygan North and the city Legion team was 3-1 last year
with a 3.54 earned run average. He was a clutch performer for the A’s down the
stretch last season. Alessi has anchored the A’s bullpen for the past three
years. Last year he was 3-2 with a 3.46 earned run average.

The
other returnee is outfielder Adam Ryan, who is having a tremendous spring
season at Marian, raking the ball for a .487 average with five doubles and a
pair of home runs. He hit .256 in 39 games with the A’s last season and was
finding a groove when his season ended with an injured wrist. Ryan, like Alessi
throws left-handed and will get some time on the mound as well this year.

Joining
the club for the first time is Marian infielder Hunter Berry who is hitting .278
this spring. He was a juco player at
Ridgewater before transferring to Marian

The A’s
will launch their 54th season on Saturday night, May 21st
