A’s Sneak By Oshkosh 4-3

The Sheboygan A’s beat  the Oshkosh Giants 4-3 Wednesday night in a game that counts in the standings of both the Wisconsin State League and the Northeastern Wisconsin League

The A’s are in contention in both leagues.

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to five lead changes in the game.

Eric Schmitz and AJ Alessi held the Giants to three runs on eight hits. Schmitz started and went the first seven innings; Alessi finished for the save.

Mitch McConnell had three hits for the A’s with Ben Folger contributing a big triple.

The A’s pulled out the win thanks to a strong seventh inning. A sacrifice fly by Trevor Cho scored Ben Folger and gave Sheboygan A’s the lead for good.

The A’s, 13-3 for the season, 5-2 Wisconsin State League, 7-1 NEWBL, play at Lombard this weekend in a four-game set, which could determine the WSL regular season champion already. Lombard is 23-2 overall this season and a perfect 13-0 so far in WSL play. The A’s are in second in the WSL. Next closest to either team in the standings is Kenosha at 8-7.

The Sheboygan A's are members of the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. The A's have helped develop more than 43 players that have reached professional baseball, including 2002 World Series Champion Jarrod Washburn (Anaheim Angels).
