MENASHA, WI – Evil, this thing called baseball is. And the way it inflicts pain isn’t fair – ask Aiden Wojciehowski.

Wojciehowski, who manager Derek Loomans envisions as his closer this season, came on in relief of Rodney Valdez in the eighth inning in Menasha Monday night. He got a strikeout and a double play to end a Menasha threat. In the ninth, he struck out the side.

Then came the tenth.

Menasha’s Colin Engleburt scored the winning run after getting a one-out hit, stealing second and gaining third on Sam Hawley’s base hit. Then Wojciehowski, who had been pitching so well, let fly a 55-footer that A’s catcher Weston Nelson had no chance to knock down and Engelbert raced in with the winner to send everybody home.

A two out double by Adam Grambow and a base hit by Max Shuman gave Menasha a 1-0 lead in the first inning.

The A’s tied it, 1-1, on hits by Zac Cain and Hunter Berry and a sacrifice fly by Josh Moses in the fifth. It stayed that way until the fateful wild pitch.
