Late Appleton Rally Jolts A’s

Posted: June 14, 2017

SHEBOYGAN, WI – Riding the lively left arm of Rodney Valdez, who retired 10 straight in one mid-game stretch, the Sheboygan A’s nursed a 2-0 lead over Appleton Tuesday night until Courtney Watkins delivered a run with a base hit and Trent Whitcomb knocked in two with a double to give the Legends a 3-2 lead.

The A’s, with a deer in the headlights look about them, watched as Appleton took advantage of the two-inning-opening errors to bump the lead to the final 5-2 score and disappoint a big crowd for Midwest Communications night.

The loss is the third straight for the A’s who travel to Green Bay Wednesday night before returning home to play Manitowoc Thursday and De Pere Friday.

The A’s fall to 8-4 on the season.
