A’s Turn Back De Pere

Posted: June 28, 2017

SHEBOYGAN, WI- While they led from the second inning on, the Sheboygan A’s left the bases loaded in the fifth, seventh and eighth innings and came within a whisker of paying dearly for that before winding up with a 5-2 win over the De Pere Dodgers Tuesday night.

Trailing 5-0 going into the 9th, De Pere scored a pair in the inning and had the bases loaded before reliever John VanderPloeg induced a ground ball that ended hopes for the Dodgers.

Josh Moses’ 2-run home run, his second round-tripper in as many days, got the A’s out to a lead they would retain through the ninth inning challenge.

Hunter Berry had three hits and Moses, Adam Ryan and Mark Wanner all two. Overall, the A’s collected 11 hits on the night, while the opposing Dodgers only collected nine.

On top of their nine hits, the Dodgers also committed four errors, which ultimately helped the A’s add to their lead throughout the game.

Rodney Valdes shut out De Pere for six innings to get the win, while John VanderPloeg got the save. Evan Sigmund took the loss for the Dodgers after going seven innings.

The club travels to Oshkosh tonight with Brady Nehring on the mound and to De Pere Friday with Eric Schmitz scheduled.
