A’s Rebound for Challenge Win

Posted: July 11, 2017

SHEBOYGAN, WI- After dropping two of three Wisconsin State League Challenge games over the weekend the Sheboygan A’s evened their record with a rousing 13-1 victory over the Oshkosh Giants at Wildwood Park Monday night.

The game was originally scheduled for Friday night but was rained out.

The A’s hit Oshkosh with six runs in the second inning and the Giants never threatened after that. The Giants were only able to scrounge up one run total, which was not enough to make up the deficit.

Offensively, there were multiple A’s players that assisted in this victory. Harry Steldt’s 3-run double was the big hit of the second inning. Jake Arens hit a 2-run home run and Steldt, Rodney Valdez and Adam Ryan each a double and a single.

Mitch Gardner pitched five strong innings to take the win for the A’s, while Josh Ditter took the loss for the Giants after pitching five innings and allowing 10 runs.

The highlight of the WSL Challenge weekend for the A’s was Taylor Schwarz’s 5-hit shutout of Addison for a 3-0 A’s win. He struck out six in the game to go over the 300 mark in career strikeouts.

The club returns to action tonight at Wildwood Park against Menasha. It is Fat Tuesday presented by Bourbon Street Pub and Grill with gumbo and jambalaya available. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
