Schwarz Throws Another Shutout as the A’s Defeat Rubicon

Posted: July 15, 2017

SHEBOYGAN, WI- Taylor Schwarz didn’t allow a single run as the A’s defeated the Rubicon Red Sox 17-0 in their first game in the Wisconsin Amateur Baseball Classic on Friday night. Schwarz allowed just two hits the entire game and was able to add yet another shut out to his resume.

The A’s grabbed an early lead in the first inning and never looked back. Taylor Grimm drove in two runs with a single to make the score 2-0.

The A’s later added to their lead, scoring eight runs in the seventh inning. Chris Saltzman and Harry Steldt both had doubles and Josh Moses and Adam Ryan each collected a single in this impressive offensive inning for the A’s.

Moses also added another home run to his already impressive record at the plate.

The only bright spot at the plate for the Red Sox seemed to be a single by Christian McElvey in the first inning.

Schwarz earned the win for the A’s. He tossed seven innings, surrendering zero runs, two hits, striking out eight and walking zero. Charlie Peterson took the loss for Red Sox.

With this win, the A’s are currently 1-0 in pool play in the Wisconsin Amateur Baseball Classic. The team continues pool play today with a double header starting at 5 p.m. at Wildwood Baseball Park.
