A’s Down Green Bay; Hall of Fame Induction Tonight

GREEN BAY, WI- With everybody in the line-up sharing in the total, the Sheboygan A’s banged out 14 hits to set back the Green Bay Storm by a 10-7 score at Green Bay Friday night.

Tonight and Sunday make up the A’s big Hall of Fame/Alumni weekend with big games and big events on the schedule. The perennial champion perennial and once again league-leading Lombard Orioles are in town for four games and the 2017 Wisconsin State league champion is likely be determined this weekend. The Orioles are 18-3 and the A’s 15-7, 3 ½ back.

Today’s doubleheader begins at 5 p.m. Sunday’s at 1 p.m. Taylor Schwarz and Rodney Valdes are today’s pitchers, Eric Schmitz and Josh Olson Sunday’s.

Between games of tonight’s doubleheader (about 6:30), Tim Patzman will be inducted into the Sheboygan A’s Hall of Fame. Patzman, a former UW-Milwaukee standout hit .344 over his six-year A’s career. His best years were 2007, 2008 and 2009 when he hit .358, .380, and .368.

On Sunday the 1997 Wisconsin State league championship team will hold a reunion and those present will be introduced between games of the doubleheader.

Last night the A’s took a 2-0 lead in the second inning and, while challenged throughout, never lost the lead. Harry Steldt led the way with three hits including a pair of doubles for three RBI, Grant Kosanke had a triple and single, Cole Miklavcic and Mark Wanner two hits and Josh Moses a home run. Derek Loomans got the win, Steldt the save.

The Sheboygan A's are members of the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. The A's have helped develop more than 43 players that have reached professional baseball, including 2002 World Series Champion Jarrod Washburn (Anaheim Angels).
