Long Ball Powers A’s to Victory Over Green Bay

Posted: June 28, 2018

Sheboygan, WI – Harry Steldt, Matt Quartel, and Cole Miklavcic each smashed home runs Wednesday night to power the A’s to a 10-0 Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League victory over the Green Bay Storm in front of the home crowd.

Steldt’s two-run shot in the bottom of the third put the A’s up 4-0. It was Steldt’s first home run this season after hitting seven in 2017.

Quartel and Miklavcic each hit their shots in the bottom of the sixth inning, with Quartel delivering a solo-shot to start the inning, and Miklavcic later following up with a three-run blast of his own. For Quartel, it was his first hit in an A’s uniform.

Austin Fox took the mound for the A’s, and limited the Storm offense to just two hits, and single and a double, in his outing. He threw 91 pitches in seven innings, striking out four and walking four.

Miklavcic led the charge for the A’s offensively, with four-RBI, including a bases loaded hit in the bottom of the seventh which scored the tenth run of the game, ending the game via the ten-run rule. Jake Arens also contributed two hits in the contest.

The A’s will now enjoy an extended Fourth of July break. The team will not play again until Friday, July 6 when they host the Oshkosh Giants in the first game of the Wisconsin State League Challenge – a weekend where all seven WSL teams come to Sheboygan to play regular-season matchups in one spot to help limit travel for some teams. Friday night is the A’s first ever Ladies Night. Bud Light tap beer will be $1 off, special vendors geared towards women will be setting up booths, and tickets for females will be half price.

The Sheboygan A's are members of the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League.
