Early Lead For Menasha Seals Fate For A’s

Sheboygan, WI – The Sheboygan A’s fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 6-0 loss to the Menasha Macs on Thursday. 

Menasha Macs got things started in the second inning, scoring on a walk by Drew Johnson, a single by Zach Carney, and Sam Hawley was hit by a pitch, driving in a run.

Eric Zuberbier was the winning pitcher for Menasha Macs. He went eight innings, allowing zero runs on five hits, striking out six and walking zero. Brian Brown threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Mason Maziarka took the loss for the A’s. He went five and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs on nine hits and striking out two.

Harry Steldt went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Sheboygan A’s in hits.

The A’s now begin play in the Wisconsin Amateur Baseball Classic Tournament. Tonight the As will host a tournament game between Plymouth and West Bend, before taking the field to face the Everest Merchants at 8:30 PM. Tonight is Strike Out Cancer Night, with a portion of the night’s proceeds benefiting local cancer centers. 

The Sheboygan A's are members of the Wisconsin State League and Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. The A's have helped develop more than 43 players that have reached professional baseball, including 2002 World Series Champion Jarrod Washburn (Anaheim Angels).
