Sheboygan, WI – A walk-off error propelled the Sheboygan A’s to a decisive, dramatic victory over the Everest Merchants, 3-2. The win puts the A’s at 1-0 in Pool D of the WABC.

The game was tied at two with the bases loaded when Everest brought in their center fielder to act as a fifth infielder. TD Walker lined a shot up the middle that the center fielder bobbled, allowing Cole Miklavic to score and win the game.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Eric Schmitz struck out nine, while Lukas Watson sat down ten for Everest.

In the top of the fifth inning, Everest tied things up at two when Tom Fish singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run. Soon after, the game entered a rain/lightning delay for nearly an hour.

When play resumed, the A’s closed out the inning. The A’s then ended two innings with the go-ahead runner on third base before winning in the seventh.

Eric Schmitz took the win for the A’s. He surrendered two runs on four hits over seven innings, striking out nine and walking one.

Cole Miklavcic, Harry Steldt, TD Walker, and Ben Gordon all had one hit to lead the A’s offense.

The A’s now head to West Bend for a NOON game against Pewaukee today, then travel back to the friendly confines of Wildwood for a 7:30 PM game against Burlington to close out Pool D play.
