A’s Split Non-League Doubleheader with Kewaskum

Posted: June 2, 2019

The A’s will take a 2-2 record into their Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League opener in Menasha Monday.

The club split a non-leauge double-header with the Kewaskum A’s Saturday, dropping game one 8-4 before taking game two by the same score.

After their first two hitters were retired, Kewaskum scored four runs in the first inning and although the A’s came to within 5-4 in the top half of the third inning, they would never overcome the bad start and fell, 8-4 in game one.

In game one, JJ Zywiciel had a single and a 2-run triple and Josh Gates two hits to lead the A‘s at the plate. But after the third inning the A’s never got a runner as far as second base. Kyle Moyer struggled with control problems and took the loss.

Cole Miklavcic broke up a 4-4 tie with an RBI single in the sixth inning in game two to give the A’s the lead they would never yield. Miklavcic had three hits to lead the team and Hayden Smith, Harry Steldt and TD Walker all had two. Zywiciel, the second of four pitchers who all benefitted from an excellent defensive performance by the A’s, got the win.

Now 2-2 for the season, the A’s travel to Menasha Monday night to meet the Northeastern Wisconsin League champion Macs. The 2019 Sheboygan A’s season is presented by Meijer.
