Orioles Take Three of Four from A’s

Posted: June 10, 2019

The Lombard Orioles left Sheboygan with three wins Sunday night. They also left knowing they were in a dogfight.

The Orioles swept Saturday, blanking the A’s 6-0 in the series opener behind the combined 2-hit pitching of Tom Goodyear and Jack Spicer. Brad Rindfleisch took the loss as the A’s supported him with only two hits, a double by Mark Wanner and a single by Jake Falish

Lombard overcame an early 3-1 A’s lead in Saturday’s nightcap to score four runs in the last inning for a 5-3 win. Alex Dee drove in two runs with a double and Jake Arens had two hits and drove in the other A’a run.

Mason Maziarka pitched six strong innings. Ben Folger pitched the last inning and took the loss. Ross Krist had a double and Arens drove in a run with two hits.

In the first game Sunday, the A’s hit the Birds with a run in the first inning and cruised home with a 5-3 win, their first over Lombard since July 22, 2017.

Winner Jake Bonin threw six solid innings at the Orioles to get the win. In addition to Bonin’s pitching, the highlight of the game was Cole Miklavcic’s diving catch in centerfield in the sixth inning.

Lombard came back to take the second game Sunday, 7-4. Drew Lechnir’s double led the light-hitting A’s in that game.

After an off-day Monday the A’s 2019 season, presented by Meijer, resumed when the team travels to Green Bay Tuesday to face the De Pere Dodgers at Jonanees Stadium, and then host the Green Bay Storm on Sponsor’s Night Wednesday.
