A’s Drop Road Tilt at Appleton

Posted: July 3, 2020

APPLETON- The Sheboygan A’s scored the first five runs of the game; the Appleton Legends scored the last six.

A 2-out, 3-run double by Carl Valk accounted for Appleton’s second 3-run inning that wiped out a Sheboygan A’s lead and gave the Legends a 6-5 Northeastern Wisconsin League win in Appleton Thursday night.

The loss dropped the A’s to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the NEWBL.

The first five hitters the A’s sent to the plate got base hits and it was Harry Stedt’s bases-loaded double that knocked three runs in. Mark Wanner drove in a run in the second inning and Shane Ryan knocked in one in the third to give the A’s a 5-0 lead.

But Appleton wouldn’t go away and scored three in the fifth and Valk’s double won the game for the Legends in the seventh.

Ross Krist and Mark Wanner both had three hits for the A’s and Tyler Brandenberg two.

Jackson Pothast took the loss in relief of Noah Imrie.

The A’s are off for the July 4th weekend and then travel to Menasha Monday night in a game that kicks off a stretch of eight games in seven days.
