Wilson Goes the Distance as A’s Beat Appleton

Posted: July 21, 2020

Davis Wilson racked up the first nine inning complete game of the season for the Sheboygan A’s, a 6-3 win over the Appleton Legends at Wildwood Park on Monday night.

The win marked the A’s fifth straight win after a relatively slow start to the season.

Things started off shaky for Wilson and the A’s, as Appleton jumped on top with a quick 2-0 lead after collecting five hits in the first inning. They would add another run in the second for a 3-0 lead.

Things turned around in the fourth inning as the A’s scored four runs on five hits, resulting in a lead they wouldn’t lose for the remainder of the game. TD Walker stole home to put up the first run, followed by a RBI single by catcher Shane Ryan. Mark Wanner then came up to bat and hit a 2-RBI double, giving them a 4-3 lead.

A triple by Ross Krist would add some insurance runs later in the game. Krist went 4-for-5 with a and triple and two runs batted in to lead the attack. Mark Wanner and Shane Ryan added two hits.

As for Davis, after a slow start, he rebounded nicely the rest of the way.

“The last four innings I mostly threw fastballs but Appleton just hit the ball where our guys were and they made plays,” Wilson said after the game.
