A'S BEAT MANITOWOC
2009-06-16
Sheboygan A’s infielders/pitchers Taylor Schwarz and Mitchell Gardner showed some grit to get some big outs and secure a huge victory over the Manitowoc Bandits in Manitowoc Tuesday night.
The 8-5 win put the A’s at 8-0 in the Northeastern Wisconsin League and 5-3 in the Wisconsin State League.
With Will Madson unable to go and Derrick Pankow still under contract with the Green Bay Bullfrogs, manager Chad Gehr gave the ball to Schwarz for his first mound appearance since last summer. He gave Gehr three innings and then Gardner, who went seven Friday night, gave him six.
They were nicked for a dozen hits between them, but both were tough in the clutch to get the big win for the A’s.
Tim Patzman drove in three runs with two hits and a sacrifice fly, Matt Schilter and Kreston Albright both had two hits and Lucas Wilsing, Nohl Depies and Ryan Schmitz each drove in a run with a base hit.
The 13-3 A’s host Appleton Thursday night before hitting the road for a 4-game series in Chicago this weekend
