Ron Herr came to the A’s following an 8-year professional career with the Braves organization, and he made an immediate impact, leading the A’s to the 1968 Land o’ Lakes Northern Division Championship with a 7-2 record and a gaudy 1.14 ERA.

He finished his 5-year playing career with a 21-9 record and a 2.23 ERA. He also assisted Bob Sauger with managerial duties.

He was the club’s MVP in 1971 when he went 6-2 with a 2.19 ERA despite painful arm problems.
